BackgroundSince I was a kid I wanted to be a "HAM" radio operator. However, I didn't know anyone who was involved in Amateur Radio until I met "K6OMX", "W6LAR" and "K1NWB". With their encouragement and much study, I received my first Amateur Radio license in 1997. I decided that I wanted to be able to do more than just talk locally. I wanted to talk to the World! In order to achieve that goal I had to learn Morse Code and I didn't have a clue what a "Da" or "Dit" was. Another Ham friend of mine "KQ6UT" told me about a computer program, "Morse Academy" that would help me learn the code. With the assistance of that program and some License Study guides I purchased from Radio Shack, I was able to pass all of my written and code exams to finally received the Top Amateur License "EXTRA CLASS" in May 2000.
